Why Mercury consider as an ideal liquid for thermometer ? 

answer :

 i) mercury is shiny liquid metal and therefore can be easily seen 

ii) mercury does not stick to glass .                                  
iii) it expand and contract uniformly with a rise on fall ,
iv) mercury  freezs at approx   - 39 degrees Celsius and boil at 357 degrees Celsius



Difference between laboratory and clinical thermometer

clinical thermometer 

i) use for shorter measurments
ii) range 35degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius
iii) reading take place after removing from body 
iv) it can be place  any below the tounge and arm

laboratory thermometer 

i)  use for larher measurments  
ii) temprature range 0 degrees Celsius to 100 degrees Celsius
iii) bulb remain incontact with  body
